Resume
My career in content started in 2007, when I took my first job at Penguin Young Readers Group in New York City. Since then, I moved to Boston and then to Austin and migrated from the publishing industry to the world of content marketing — but the constant has always been my love of words and stories.
From 2012 to 2015, I worked as the Lead Contributing Copy Editor for SmarterTravel (a TripAdvisor company), editing articles for SmarterTravel, Jetsetter, and Airfarewatchdog and writing feature articles that were nationally syndicated on outlets such as Huffington Post and USA Today. I managed the team’s copy flow, cultivated relationships with syndication partners, collaborated to develop content strategy, and ran SmarterTravel’s Instagram account.
I moved from SmarterTravel to Rue La La, where I worked for three years as the Lead Copy Editor for Rue Now, Rue La La’s fashion and lifestyle content platform. In addition to copyediting all articles that went up on the site, I managed the daily copy flow for Rue Now and strategized content for the editorial calendar, aligning our creative work with the larger sales goals of the company and working with designers, copywriters, and analysts to bring the content experience into Rue La La’s larger e-commerce initiatives. In addition, I edited marketing materials, newsletter emails, press materials, and more. Tight deadlines, shifting priorities, and multiple simultaneous projects were the norm — and served to inspire innovation and efficiency.
As an editor, I am meticulous and thorough. At the same time, I am creative and flexible. I am proactive, highly engaged, and always looking for opportunities to make process improvements.
I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 with a BA in English. I attended a post-graduate publishing course at the University of Denver’s Publishing Institute, where I earned a certificate in publishing.
